On June 6, Pak Thae Song and Jo Yong Won, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and Ri Hi Yong, Jong Kyong Thaek, Sin Yong Il, Jo Chun Ryong, An Kum Chol, Kim Jong Gwan, Kim Tok Hun, Jon Hyon Chol and other senior Party and government officials visited all provinces of the country to celebrate the KCU founding anniversary with the schoolchildren.

They met and congratulated the KCU members who have distinguished themselves in study, organizational life and do-good-thing movement.

Senior Party and government officials joined schoolchildren in celebrating the KCU birthday.

At provincial meetings of Korean Children’s Union organizations, officials encouraged KCU members to uphold the organization’s values in their daily lives and to grow into young patriots, always remembering the pledge they made when joining the Union.

Art performances by schoolchildren and other cultural events were held, adding to the pleasure of the holiday.

Senior Party and government officials also enjoyed sports and recreational activities together with the schoolchildren.

A dancing party for schoolchildren was held in the front yard of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace on June 5 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Children’s Union.

The venue was filled with the excitement and joy of schoolchildren celebrating the anniversary of the KCU.

Among the spectators were Ju Chang Il, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Paek Un Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, youth league officials, participants in the celebrations of the 80th founding anniversary of the KCU, and members of the delegation of Korean schoolchildren in Japan.

The dance celebration began with the song “We Are the Happiest in the World”.

Schoolchildren then danced to various songs including “Let’s Sing of the Loving Care of the Marshal”, “I Am a Member of the Korean Children’s Union” and “Our Classmates”.

The dancing party concluded with the song “Let Us Be Always Ready for Socialist Country”.

Children across the DPRK joyfully welcomed International Children’s Day on June 1.

Children at nurseries, kindergartens, baby homes and orphanages throughout the capital and across the country spent a joyful holiday surrounded by the care and affection of nurses, kindergarten teachers and parents.

On their holiday, children at Pyongyang Baby Home, Pyongyang Orphanage, Kim Jong Suk Nursery, Kyongsang Kindergarten and Changgwang Kindergarten received apples and pears provided by the Workers’ Party of Korea.

During artistic performances, children across the country sang songs including “We Yearn for Marshal Kim Jong Un” and performed dances to a variety of musical pieces.

The children took part in various sports, folk and recreational games. Among the activities were team competitions featuring “Chong” (blue) and “Hong” (red) teams and “Aircraft” and “Tank” teams. The sight of the children’s joyful play delighted the spectators.

On the same day, commercial service establishments, parks and amusement venues in all parts of the DPRK were crowded with children spending a pleasant time with their parents.

The temple was originally built in 392 during the reign of King Kwanggaetho, the 24th ruler of the Koguryo Kingdom. It was later restored in 1727 during the feudal Joson dynasty.

Kwangbop Temple was destroyed by US bombing during the Korean War, but it was reconstructed in 1990 in its original form.

It is a representative example of architecture from the Koguryo period. There are the Haethal Gate, the gate of the temple, five-storied octagonal pagoda and the main hall where Buddhist priests sit in meditation east and west on both sides of its central axis.

The main hall, painted red and blue, features a two-storied hip-saddle roof.

Inside the hall are three Buddhist statues, including a statue of Shakyamuni, as well as a painting of Buddha.

In the centre of the temple yard there is a five-storied octagonal pagoda, noted for its elegant appearance and harmonious balance with the surrounding buildings.

As a valuable cultural heritage site that reflects the architectural achievements and long cultural traditions of the Korean people, the temple is carefully preserved and maintained as a relic of national treasure.

In February 1991, President Kim Il Sung visited the temple and expressed satisfaction that it had been successfully reconstructed in accordance with historical principles.

In later years, a resting area was created around the temple, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Senior Party and government officials visited factories and enterprises across the country to celebrate May Day together with working people.

Jo Yong Won, a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, along with other senior Party and government officials and representatives of the Party and power organs at all levels visited the Sangwon Cement Complex, the Chollima Steel Complex, the Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant, the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine of the Sunchon Area Youth Coal-mining Complex, the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex, the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill, the Kangdong Greenhouse Complex, the Pyongyang Construction Commission, the State Academy of Sciences, etc. to congratulate the working people on their holiday.

They met and encouraged the innovators who are raising a hot wind of creating new standards and records at worksites. They expressed hope that these workers would continue to serve as role models and pioneers within their collectives in the future.

They spent a pleasant time together with the workers, watching sports competitions and recreational games.

The Flower Festival 2026 was held in Pyongyang from April 13 to 27 to mark the 114th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994), the founder of the DPRK. Organized under the theme “More Beautiful, More Fragrant” the festival brought together flower research and production units, universities, public institutions, enterprises, organizations, flower enthusiasts, and honorary members of the Korean Flower Association from across the country.

More than 200 organizations and individuals presented a wide range of flowers, ornamental plants and plant sculptures. Among the exhibits that attracted particular attention was a display by the Taedonggang District Floricultural Station featuring more than 1 000 flowers representing the DPRK flag. Contributions also came from provinces including South and North Phyongan, North Hwanghae, Kangwon, and Ryanggang, as well as from the municipalities of Nampho and Rason. Amateur flower growers displayed beautiful flowers and various kinds of flower decorations cultivated at their homes.

The festival also included diverse technical exchanges, experience-sharing meetings and various service activities. The event opened and closed with ceremonies attended by officials, participants, and residents of Pyongyang. At the closing ceremony, awards and diplomas were presented to units and participants that received high evaluations from the festival jury. These included Pyongyang Municipality, North Hwanghae Province, Jagang Province, Kangwon Province, South Phyongan Province, North Phyongan Province, the Central Botanical Garden and the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League.

The Sixth Sweets and Biscuit Sculpture Exhibition was held at the Chongryu Restaurant, one of the famous public catering establishments in Pyongyang, from April 8 to 10. As reported by local media, the show took place on the occasion of the 114th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, the greatest national holiday of the DPRK, drawing attention of many people.

More than 900 sweet and biscuit sculptures were displayed during the exhibition. The works were created by public catering and service units, as well as food factories.

Among the most notable displays were sweet sculptures prepared by cooks from the Chongryu Restaurant, which drew attention for their unique depictive technique and refined colors.

Entries from the Pothonggang Hostel, Pyongyang Hotel, the Minsong Foodstuffs Factory, the Kumsong Foodstuff Factory and the Kyonghung Unhasu Foodstuff Factory were also highly appreciated.

The exhibition additionally featured cooking demonstrations and presentations introducing techniques used in confectionery and biscuit sculpture making.

At the end of the event, a jury announced the results of the exhibition, and diplomas, medals and certificates were awarded to selected units and participants.

Participants included cooks, waiters and waitresses, and housewives from across the country. More than 600 dishes and beverages, along with over 130 scientific and technological achievements related to culinary work, were presented during the festival.

The program featured a cookery show intended to share cooking technology and experience, as well as presentations of holiday dishes, regional specialties, and health-oriented cuisine.

An exhibition of culinary science and technology displayed inventions and methods aimed at putting the cookery on a scientific and modern basis in the form of objects, visual aids and multimedia.

The festival also included competitions for cooks and restaurant staff, cooking demonstrations, and a culinary contest involving housewives.
