Sweets and Biscuit Sculpture Show Held in Pyongyang

The Sixth Sweets and Biscuit Sculpture Exhibition was held at the Chongryu Restaurant, one of the famous public catering establishments in Pyongyang, from April 8 to 10. As reported by local media, the show took place on the occasion of the 114th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung, the greatest national holiday of the DPRK, drawing attention of many people.

More than 900 sweet and biscuit sculptures were displayed during the exhibition. The works were created by public catering and service units, as well as food factories.

Among the most notable displays were sweet sculptures prepared by cooks from the Chongryu Restaurant, which drew attention for their unique depictive technique and refined colors.

Entries from the Pothonggang Hostel, Pyongyang Hotel, the Minsong Foodstuffs Factory, the Kumsong Foodstuff Factory and the Kyonghung Unhasu Foodstuff Factory were also highly appreciated.

The exhibition additionally featured cooking demonstrations and presentations introducing techniques used in confectionery and biscuit sculpture making.

At the end of the event, a jury announced the results of the exhibition, and diplomas, medals and certificates were awarded to selected units and participants.
