The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, visited the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong on July 26 to mark the 73rd anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.

Present there were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and other leading officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs, officials of the WPK Central Committee, the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly, the Cabinet, commissions, ministries and national agencies and commanding officers of the Korean People’s Army.

The KPA guard of honor lined up at the cemetery.

The national anthem of the DPRK was played.

A wreath bearing the august name of Comrade Kim Jong Un was placed at the wreath-laying stand amid the playing of the wreath-laying music.

Wreaths in the name of the WPK Central Committee, the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, the SPA Standing Committee of the DPRK and the Cabinet of the DPRK were laid at the cemetery.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, together with all the participants, paid a silent tribute to the memory of the revolutionary martyrs who devoted their precious lives to the sacred cause for the independence and sovereignty of the country and the defence of its sovereignty and the people’s wellbeing and happiness.

There took place a march-past of the KPA guard of honor.

Comrade Kim Jong Un placed flowers before the busts of Kim Chaek, Kang Kon and Choe Hyon on Jujak Peak who made a distinguished contribution to the war victory, with deep reverence for the revolutionaries of the first generation who created and glorified the ever-victorious tradition and history, fighting in the bloody anti-Japanese war and the flames of the Fatherland Liberation War under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung.

He said that the fighters’ absolute loyalty to the leader, spirit of devotedly implementing the revolutionary tasks and courageous will without impossibility were developed into the ideological and moral qualities of the defenders of the country in the 1950s and this was the basic foundation that made the victorious wartime generation the most heroic generation of the DPRK and the model of the indomitable Korean people.

He affirmed that the glory of July 27 would continue with greater and more dynamic victory in the course of advance of our cause sacred with great pioneering and succession and that our country associated with the patriotic soul of the forerunners would be prosperous forever as a powerful socialist state.

He paid high tribute to the revolutionary martyrs who created the precious revolutionary spirit and tradition to be handed down to posterity and laid the eternal foundation for the national prosperity, praying for their immortality as a model of brilliant life and struggle for all the successive generations of the DPRK and a mainstay of their firm faith.

He stressed that the miracle of July 27 won by the ordinary army and people on this land with ardent love and indomitable might should be the precious ideological and moral wealth and infinite latent energy of the Korean revolution to be invariably and thoroughly carried forward regardless of the replacement of generations and the growing gains of the revolution in the long journey of building a power.

July 27, 2026 marks the 73rd anniversary of victory the Korean people achieved in the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) by repulsing the armed invasion by the imperialist allied forces headed by the United States.

The then two-year-old Democratic People’s Republic of Korea defeated the United States, which had been boastingof being the “strongest” in the world, and its satellite forces, in the three-year war. It was a miracle unprecedented in history.

The victory in the war was the fruition of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung’s Juche-oriented military ideas, brilliant strategies and tactics and unexcelled leadership, as well as the will to defeat the enemy, unparalleled bravery and mass heroism displayed by the Korean people, who were firmly rallied around him.

Regarding the great spiritual strength of the masses as a decisive factor in achieving victory in the war, Supreme Commander Kim Il Sung put forward the slogan Everything for Victory in the War! and aroused all the people and soldiers for the sacred struggle for defending their motherland.

He created unique strategies, tactics and art of war, including immediate and decisive counterattack against the enemy’s surprise armed invasion, formation of the second front by regular army units, powerful general counteroffensive, positive positional defence, night action, tunnel warfare, aircraft- and tank-hunting team movements and snipers’ team activity, paralyzing the enemy’s numerical and technical superiority.

The Ninth Congress of the WPK put forward it as the foremost requirement of the times to ensure the complete unity of action and establish the strong discipline in socialist construction as a whole. Put on the agenda at the meeting was the issue of drawing a serious lesson from the crimes committed by corrupt elements in the political organ of the People’s Army who were engrossed in high-profile irregularities and corruption.

The joint meeting informed the participants of the data exposing high-profile irregularities and corruption committed by Pak Hui Chol, former vice-director in charge of organizational affairs of the General Political Bureau of the People’s Army, and his followers.

The Central Military Commission of the WPK took a measure in late June to bring a charge of irregularities and corruption against Pak Hui Chol and investigate him.

Pursuant to the measure, the Second Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK decided to dismiss him from the Party central leadership body and refer him to a law enforcement organ.

The highest law enforcement organ of the DPRK examined the crimes of the accused, who engaged in acquiring ill-gotten wealth by various means while holding an important post in the political organ of the People’s Army, and accomplices who catered to his heinous irregularities and corruption.

All the crimes committed by the accused were clearly proved by objective evidence at the trial.

The accused Pak Hui Chol committed scandals and illegally acquired wealth by abusing his power of arranging organizational work and appointing cadres, seriously betraying the trust and expectation of the Party Central Committee and the people and challenging the Party’s line of strengthening discipline. He exerted a very harmful influence on strengthening the ranks of cadres of the People’s Army in a qualitative way, enhancing its fighting efficiency and establishing sound military traits by receiving a large amount of bribes and leading a dissipated life.

During the past four years when he had been in a responsible post of the political organ, he created special illusions about him while being engrossed in all sorts of abuses of authority and arbitrariness, and received a large amount of bribes from dishonest elements obsessed with greed and thirst for a high post.

He fostered the acts of buying and selling posts, receiving bribes and committing political fraud in the army and seriously hindered the establishment of the Party’s monolithic command system across the entire army by appointing his confidants and toadies to important posts.

He neglected every affair related with the implementation of the Party’s command policy across the entire army by plundering the maximum amount of state funds, materials and dwelling houses and squandering them in dissolute and depraved life.

Pak Hui Chol’s scandals are extra-large crimes that go beyond imagination in view of their dangerousness and harmfulness.

As a result of the strict struggle against scandal, our army came to be provided with a powerful motive force capable of removing the poison and evil practices lurking inside the military and political guidance organ at the right time and further renewing its militant prestige.

Through the serious political struggle, the People’s Army has made a stride forward in making the entire army ideologically elite. The reality proved that the further the struggle against scandals is intensified, the stronger the army becomes, the cleaner its purity becomes and the deeper the trust of the Party and the people in the heroic strong army becomes.

The participants in the meeting realized once again the necessity and urgency of observing the strict political and moral discipline and intensifying the uncompromising struggle, which have defended the qualitative growth and firm union of the revolutionary ranks, in the present important historical course.

A verdict on the accused was issued.

The Supreme Court of the DPRK sharply condemned extra-large scandal corrupt elements for their crimes and imposed penalties on them.

Comrade Kim Jong Un made an important concluding speech.

The essence of the recent case lies in the fact that the person in a responsible position, who has heavy duty and authority to contain, detect and eradicate such an act as illicit accumulation of wealth so despised by the Party and the people, abused the authority as a weapon for his own interests and emerged as the chief culprit of irregularities and corruption, Comrade Kim Jong Un said, stating that this is a political crime against the Party’s line of building discipline and a deliberate act of embezzlement and plunder against the interests of the state and the people.

Seriously pointing to the gravity of this high-profile corruption that occurred when our Party declared an all-out war against the abuse of power, bureaucratism and irregularities and corruption and has steadily enhanced the intensity of the struggle, he cautioned the discipline inspection units at all levels.

Saying it is a lesson taught by the recent case that if we fail to steadily intensify education and control to prevent the officials from getting contaminated with irregularities and corruption and abandoning Party principles, it is impossible to prevent such wrongdoings, he stressed that all the officials should keep principle and uprightness as their lifeblood and should be mindful of the Party’s trust and think of the people first.

Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified the solemn stand of the Party Central Committee to steadily enhance the intensity of the organizational and ideological offensive for transforming the ranks of cadres into an elite and the legal struggle for rooting out irregularities and corruption.

The joint meeting strongly signaled that there is no place for irregularities and corruption harmful to the developing revolution and the elements infected by them to exist. The meeting decided on the issue for upgrading the technical infrastructure of combat systems, bolstering up the nuclear force both in quality and quantity and pushing ahead with the plan for standardizing, specializing and modernizing military bases in a far-sighted way. And it confirmed the specific orientation and ways for bringing about a substantial change in training sector and putting spurs to the revolution in military education.

The meeting suggested tasks and ways for expanding in a many-sided way the functions and missions of the General Reconnaissance and Intelligence Bureau, which plays a pivotal role in controlling the potential enemies’ threats and gathering key information, and enhancing its capability of military reconnaissance and intelligence activities in a radical way.

The meeting also confirmed the direction of activities of the People’s Army and its detailed tasks to accelerate the construction of modern naval bases and the technical updating for expanding the capacity of shipyards at all levels in keeping with the start of signal transformation in our Navy’s position and role and to accomplish the great historic cause for completely remodeling the coal-mining areas across the country. The meeting conveyed the directive of the WPK Central Military Commission on the immediate military structural measure.

The meeting dealt with the organizational matter of dismissing, transferring and newly appointing leading officers for key posts of the People’s Army.

The important military measures, discussed and decided at the First Enlarged Meeting of the Ninth Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea, serve as a significant practical step for giving great impetus to the struggle for implementing the WPK’s line of building a powerful army on turning the DPRK’s armed forces into the strongest one in the world and remarkably enhancing the combat power, activity and leading role of our army in defending socialism and in all spheres of socialist construction.

Today marks the 32nd anniversary of the demise of President Kim Il Sung, the father of socialist Korea and founder of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. More than three decades later, the Korean people still deeply miss him. They recall his warm love for the people and emphasize that, through his outstanding leadership, he laid a lasting foundation for the prosperity of all generations to come.

One of the key aspects of President Kim Il Sung‘s political philosophy and his lifelong motto was “to believe in the people as in Heaven”. As he once explained, the principles he chose to follow were: first, to respect and serve the people as his God; second, to devote everything to them; and third, to do everything by relying on their strength.

He believed in the people’s inexhaustible strength and led them to achieve miracles.

When President Kim Il Sung was born, his motherland was under Japanese colonial rule. The Korean people were deprived of their country and ceaselessly exposed to extreme humiliation and mistreatment. From an early age, he dedicated himself to the struggle for national liberation. After many years of determined and arduous armed resistance, he led the anti-Japanese struggle to victory over the occupying forces.

Just a few years after Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule, the US ignited a war against the newly established DPRK, less than two years old at the time. The young country had to face a technologically and numerically superior enemy. Progressive people around the world were concerned about the fate of the DPRK. However, President Kim Il Sung achieved the impossible, once again leading the struggle to victory. Thanks to his military strategy and leadership, the army and people of the DPRK succeeded in driving back the invading forces.

Since the country’s liberation he devoted himself tirelessly to improving the well-being and happiness of the Korean people. He spent his time among ordinary citizens, traveling to every corner of the country to have frank discussions with them and work to improve their living conditions. Although officials around him tried to persuade him to take some rest, he continued working without pause, as he regarded caring for the people and seeing them happy as his rest.

He inspected more than 20 600 factories, farms, military units, and other places throughout his lifetime. In the course of these field guidance visits, he traveled more than 578 000 kilometers – equivalent to circling the Earth about 14 and a half times. Under his leadership, the Korean people completed the historic task of socialist industrialization in just 14 years, laying a solid foundation for an independent national economy.

Today the Korean people are achieving amazing miracles under the outstanding leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un. The Marshal works hard every day to turn the aspirations and ideals of the Korean people into reality, without taking a break and regarding it as his lifelong motto to believe in the people as in Heaven, as President Kim Il Sung did.
