The Missile Administration and the Academy of Defence Sciences of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea conducted tests of newly-developed lightweight multi-purpose missile launching system and multiple tactical cruise missile weapon system, as part of the plan for modernizing the artillery and missile armed forces to attain the five-year goal for national defence development, on May 26.

The relevant tests analyzed and estimated the power of special mission warhead of tactical ballistic missile, the reliability of 240mm controlled artillery rocket with expanded firing range which employed an ultra-precision autonomous navigation system, and the AI-guided hit accuracy of tactical cruise missile.

Highly appreciating the test results, Comrade Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction over the fact that important ultra-high defence science and technologies were introduced into the practical weapon tests.

He made a positive assessment of the military worth of the tactical cruise missile to be deployed at the long-range artillery brigades in the southern border area in particular.

The tactical cruising shell, which has a combination of the ultra-precision autonomous navigation system and the TERCOM (terrain contour matching) navigation system and employed an AI terminal guidance function, is a powerful weapon system that can strike in an ultra-precision way any target 100 kilometers away by multimode flight based on gliding and propelling.

Comrade Kim Jong Un said that today’s tests of major weapon systems are a clear signal of upgrading of our military force and an event of showing great technical progress in the strengthening of our army’s combat power.

What is noteworthy is that the firing control system and automation system of all the launching vehicles have been finally updated to suit the proper conditions of modern warfare so as to enhance their application to combat, he said, adding that thanks to such successful development of the most powerful tactical-level weapon systems, our army’s firepower systems came to be fully put on an automatic, long-range and ultra-precision basis.

Noting that the present situation requires the steady upgrading of military capabilities, he affirmed that the validity of the development direction of the artillery and missile forces modernization plan, decided and assigned by the Party Congress, and its prospect are certain, scientific and successful as they are based on the already-made high-level defence technical achievements.

It is our top-priority policy direction for the building of armed forces to build the most modern and powerful artillery force which no one can match, he said, adding: It is essential condition for our army’s operations to have such destructive power as enough to make any encountering force impossible to survive theoretically, apart from fortune. Such capability will give extreme uneasiness and fear to the enemy, and it will be a major link and a responsible exercise for deterring war.

Saying that it is the main task facing our armed forces and defence science sector to defend the security of sovereignty and guarantee the development of socialism with powerful war deterrence, Comrade Kim Jong Un assigned important tasks arising in stepping up the steady growth of the national defence capability and the work to put the military hardware on an ultra-modern basis.

The line of our Party and government to steadily accelerate the strengthening of the nuclear force and conventional armed force remains unchanged, he said, adding that our plan to defend the military sovereignty and exercise the right to self-defence in a responsible manner will be expressed in a clearer action.

Present to observe the tests were Marshal Pak Jong Chon, advisor to the Ministry of National Defence, Full General Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the C.C., WPK, Full General Kim Jong Sik, first department director of the C.C., WPK, Full General Jang Chang Ha, general director of the Missile Administration, Lieut. General Kim Yong Hwan, president of the Academy of Defence Sciences, Lieut. General Kim Kang Il, director of the General Armaments Bureau of the Ministry of National Defence, Maj. General Yu Chang Son, director of the Artillery Bureau of the General Staff, and Senior Colonel Kim Myong Son, director of the Armaments Examination Bureau of the Ministry of National Defence.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, convened a meeting of the commanding officers of the divisions and brigades of the entire army on May 17 and met them.

Present there were Ri Yong Gil, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army, and Pak Jong Chon, advisor to the Ministry of National Defence of the DPRK.

The commanding officers were filled with great excitement as they were to meet the Supreme Commander at the sacred headquarters building of the Party Central Committee which the KPA service personnel have always cherished in their minds at every post in the sky, ground and sea of the country.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared, the commanding officers broke into stormy cheers of “Hurrah!”, looking up to the outstanding leader of the revolution who is dynamically guiding the inexhaustible development of our army to glory and victory with his distinguished commanding philosophy and art.

Highly appreciating the extraordinary services of the commanding officers who are leading the combined units while devoting their sincere efforts to the country and the people, he warmly encouraged them.

He met the commanding officers of the combined units at all levels of the entire army and had a talk with them on a series of important military issues.

Stressing that the tasks of the commanders of the combined units are very important, he said that the historic assignment to develop our army into the strongest one in the world is entrusted to the commanders of the divisions and brigades. And he referred to the main orientation arising in carrying out the military and political tasks at present.

Reiterating that the training for perfecting the combat preparedness is the main task of the army, he advanced a policy for readjusting the training system and intensifying the practical training in keeping with the changing aspects of modern warfare and the trend of the development of our army.

Noting that a structural measure for updating our army in a military organizational and military technical way is to be taken in the future, he stressed that the responsibility and role of the commanding officers are very important in correctly implementing it.

He said that planned projects, too, should be stepped up to newly define the concept of operations in all spheres in keeping with the rapid modernization of the military and technical equipment of our army and apply it to the combat training of the units.

Mentioning the Party’s policy of territorial defence on strengthening the first-line units in the southern border and turning the border line into an impregnable fortress, he expressed a plan for remodeling the military organizational structure and strengthening the first-line units and other major units in military and technical aspects as an important decision to more thoroughly deter war.

Briefing on a prospect of modernization of the KPA and progress made in developing the military and technical equipment, Comrade Kim Jong Un said that we are building a powerful army and affirmed that as already clarified, if the tasks for the period of the Five-Year Plan are carried out, preparedness of the KPA’s strategic action will be renewed beyond comparison with the present and a great change will be made in an aspect of deterring war.

He stressed that the commanding officers of the entire army and all levels should continue to raise their class consciousness, outlook on the arch enemy, and remain faithful to their sacred duty of defending the sovereignty while always keeping highly alert.

Saying that the KPA should defend the country with its ideology and faith than physical strength and that the ideology and faith are the unique secret of the combat capability of our army which can exceed the limit of physical strength, he added that the KPA should continue to carry forward its tradition of overwhelming the enemy with ideology and faith by steadily waging the ideological revolution with firm belief in its cause and that only then can the KPA reliably maintain its honor and position as the strongest army in the world.

Our Party and people’s expectation in the KPA commanding officers is very high, he said, expressing belief that the KPA commanding officers would remain faithful to their sacred duty, bearing deep in mind the heavy responsibility for their mission, no matter who may know it or not.

That day, Comrade Kim Jong Un had a photo session with the commanders of the combined units of the entire army in the yard of the Party Central Committee.

The commanders of the KPA combined units at all levels, who were honored to meet the great brilliant commander and receive the great trust from him, vowed to cherish the important teachings of the Supreme Commander as the coordinates of struggle and boundlessly remain faithful to the important mission and duty they assumed before the Party and the revolution and thus fully demonstrate the honor of the KPA commanding officer in the most glorious and strongest era led by him.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, had a photo session with the participants in the Ninth Congress of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea on May 14.

The venue of the photo session was filled with great excitement and joy of the participants who took part in the significant congress held amid the great interest of the working people across the country out in the struggle for a new stage of transformation in socialist construction and had the highest honor and happiness they wished for even in their dreams.

When Comrade Kim Jong Un arrived at the venue, a stormy cheers of “Hurrah!” burst out.

All the participants paid the highest tribute to him, who respectfully put forward our working class and trade union members as the core unit of the revolution and self-reliant vanguard and bestowed deep trust and love on them so that they could demonstrate the proud honor of the socialist patriotic workers in the van of the struggle for national prosperity.

Comrade Kim Jong Un met and congratulated the newly elected chairman and vice-chairmen of the 9th Central Committee of the GFTUK. And he appreciated the efforts of the meritorious trade union officials and members.

Acknowledging the enthusiastic cheers of the participants, he encouraged them who glorified the Ninth Congress of the GFTUK as a significant occasion for demonstrating cohesion and revolutionary disposition of our working class and trade union members rallied close around the Party and accelerating the all-people advance for implementing the Party’s decisions.

He said that in the last five years after the Eighth Congress of the GFTUK, our working people fully demonstrated their intense loyalty to the Party, patriotic consciousness and inexhaustible creativity. He highly appreciated that the outstanding feats of the working class, who broke precedents, went beyond limitations and proved that anything is possible to push ahead with the overall socialist construction, and the role of the GFTUK in mobilizing the ideological power served as a great strength for the Party which ushered in the great pioneering period of the comprehensive rejuvenation.

He stressed that there is no such group in the world as the reliable and loyal working class as they firmly defend the cause of the Party, being a fortress of unshakable faith no matter how frequently the times are changed and a generation is replaced by a new one. He added that the Party Central Committee is vigorously waging the struggle of new-stage transformation for the eye-opening development of the state, believing in the strong revolutionary disposition and patriotic loyalty of all the working people including the heroic workers.

The period of gigantic transformation facing us requires the constant active vanguard role of the working class, the main force of creation and construction, and their extraordinary efforts, he said, stressing that it is the basic task facing the working class and trade union members at the present stage of socialist construction to give fuller play to the fighting spirit of self-reliance and self-sufficiency in all spheres of ideology, technology and culture with absolute confidence in the Party’s lines and policies.

Noting that all the workers and trade union members should play a vanguard role for the change of times and dynamically lead the whole country to attain the new five-year goal under the uplifted banner of the three revolutions, he emphasized that it is important for the GFTUK to fulfill its mission and duty as an organization for ideological education in firmly preparing them as a revolutionized and patriotic core force for national development and powerful vanguard for carrying out the three revolutions.

He expressed expectation and belief that all the participants in the congress would become standard-bearers and core elements leading the rapid development of all sectors and units in the worthwhile struggle to build a powerful and prosperous country through more fierce, innovative and determined struggle, and had a meaningful photo session with them.

When the photo session was over, the participants broke into enthusiastic and thunderous cheers, representing the faith and pledge of the working class and trade union members to remain boundlessly loyal to the leadership of the Party.

All the participants made a firm determination to fully demonstrate the self-respect, pluck, resourcefulness and courage of the heroic DPRK working class, socialist workers, and more vigorously struggle for the prosperity of our glorious country and the promotion of the wellbeing of our people, bearing in mind the great trust shown by Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm is located on Wihwa Island near the Amnok River in the country’s northwest and sprawls over 450 hectares.

It was built according to the plan put forward by the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un and under his direct guidance. The area, once known for natural disasters and harsh river winds, has been transformed into a new model of regional development, a modern large-scale greenhouse vegetable producer.

It includes a thousand and hundreds of modern greenhouses of different types and an advanced vegetable science research center, along with attractive residential housing and cultural facilities. The site is protected by solid flood-control infrastructure and beautifully decorated with distinctive landscapes.

It produces a wide range of crops, including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, cabbage, etc. Some greenhouses combine fish farming with hydroponic vegetable cultivation. At the farm, an intelligent integrated production system and efficient recycling technologies have been introduced, which is helpful in realizing the integration of management and production of the greenhouse farm.

Scientists working at the farm’s vegetable science research center are putting their efforts into creating modern methods for ensuring the quality, taste and nutritive value of greenhouse vegetables, expanding the distribution of high-quality vegetable seed varieties, and other issues important for the farm itself and for the development of greenhouse agriculture across the country.

The temple was originally built in 392 during the reign of King Kwanggaetho, the 24th ruler of the Koguryo Kingdom. It was later restored in 1727 during the feudal Joson dynasty.

Kwangbop Temple was destroyed by US bombing during the Korean War, but it was reconstructed in 1990 in its original form.

It is a representative example of architecture from the Koguryo period. There are the Haethal Gate, the gate of the temple, five-storied octagonal pagoda and the main hall where Buddhist priests sit in meditation east and west on both sides of its central axis.

The main hall, painted red and blue, features a two-storied hip-saddle roof.

Inside the hall are three Buddhist statues, including a statue of Shakyamuni, as well as a painting of Buddha.

In the centre of the temple yard there is a five-storied octagonal pagoda, noted for its elegant appearance and harmonious balance with the surrounding buildings.

As a valuable cultural heritage site that reflects the architectural achievements and long cultural traditions of the Korean people, the temple is carefully preserved and maintained as a relic of national treasure.

In February 1991, President Kim Il Sung visited the temple and expressed satisfaction that it had been successfully reconstructed in accordance with historical principles.

In later years, a resting area was created around the temple, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Accompanying him were Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Kim Jong Sik, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, Pak Jong Chon, advisor to the Ministry of National Defence, Kim Kang Il, vice-minister of National Defence and director of the General Armaments Bureau, Yu Chang Son, director of the Artillery Bureau of the General Staff, Kim Myong Son, director of the Armaments Examination Bureau of the Ministry of National Defence, and Kim Yong Hwan, president of the Academy of Defence Sciences.

Comrade Kim Jong Un visited several munitions industrial enterprises to learn about the implementation of munitions production assignments for the first half of the year 2026.

He expressed thanks for the patriotic devotion of the workers in the munitions industry, who are making a great contribution to strengthening the combat power of our armed forces by achieving record growth in the production of various shells and bullets in hearty response to the decisions of the First Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the WPK, and gave encouragement to them.

Referring to the defects still latent in the structure, production system and facilities of our munitions industry, he stressed the need to concentrate on the modernization such as practical upgrading of production structure and rational arrangement of production lines and to wage a dynamic struggle intended to optimize the technical control and the management of talents and workforce and steadily increase the efficiency of production.

He also underlined the need for the munitions industrial enterprises to further modernize the product inspection system and to subdivide the inspection indices in a more scientific way and thoroughly establish a habit of strictly adhering to them.

He said that it is important to consistently hold fast to the modernization of munitions production equipment and the improvement of production environments and conditions and the promotion of supply service for the employees.

Acquainting himself with the production at a bullet production factory that day, he set forth an important task for establishing the production system to meet the demands for high-precision multi-purpose bullets of different calibers, special-function bullets and training bullets.

He repeatedly stressed the need to strengthen the mortar and howitzer forces and advanced some important tasks for setting up a specialized artillery production complex and a small-arms production factory to meet the prospective demand of our armed forces and for improving the production structure and the level of modernization and specialization of bullet and shell production factories.

He expressed expectation and belief that the officials and workers in the sector of munitions industry would make strenuous efforts to achieve the higher goal of strengthening the defence capabilities with redoubled confidence and inexhaustible creativity, true to the spirit and tasks of the Ninth Congress of the WPK.

The tasks and important instructions, given by Comrade Kim Jong Un during his field guidance at the enterprises, are scientific and vital guidelines indicating the shortest and correct way to the modernization of our munitions industry, and they serve as an important milestone for bringing about a radical turn in implementing the Party’s policy of building up the national defence by further accelerating the qualitative, quantitative and technical transformation in munitions production.
