Players of the Naegohyang Team returned to the DPRK on Tuesday after winning the 2025–26 AFC Women’s Champions League.
Having begun their campaign in August last year, the team scored 36 goals in nine matches from the preliminary stage through to the final, ultimately claiming the championship title.
Upon their arrival at Pyongyang International Airport, the team was warmly welcomed by senior Party and government officials, officials concerned, fellow athletes and family members.
Officials and fellow athletes placed flower garlands around the necks of the players and coaches and presented them with bouquets, congratulating them on their success.
The women footballers left the airport by bus decorated with beautiful flowers.
Citizens lining the streets gave a warm welcome to the players, who once again took Asian women’s football by storm.
